Open The Eyes Of My Heart

This was an ANZAC Day service, including live playing of the Last Post and a minute's silence, and a video on Australia's Heroes. The sermon was drawn from the book "800 Light Horsemen".
The lyrics in Amazing Love (I'm forgiven because you were forsaken, I'm accepted you were condemned) links well with the theme of the defence forces protecting the front line so we can be free.
Thanks for running with the last minute change of lineup. I really do appreciate your willingness to roll with it, and serve no matter what happens.
It was great, I liked the different ideas for how to start the songs, and the structure and so on.
Let me know what you thought. I thought it was ace.
Love you all.

Church services for April 19, 2009

ROAD TRIP TO CROSSWAY
17th MAY LEAVING CHURCH AT 9am
RETURNING AT 4pm
RSVP TO SARAH ASAP

This week's service was on "Feed My Sheep" at the end of the gospels. There was a sweet children's story about the lost sheep, which I think everyone enjoyed. This week I was playing keys/pads in the morning and so I had a different perspective on the music worship.

So You Would Come

Thine Be the Glory

First of all, thanks for a great mix on sound. I heard it was also great FOH. I think that the new song went well. Because I wasn't playing, I could look around, and lots of people were singing it. It is a new version of an old song, I think. So it's great that lots of people know it. The songs actually were great. And playing in the band was also great. What did you think? I found it hard to hear everything aside from my own foldback. All in all I think a smoothly themed service.

One point was that I thought that perhaps the preacher might have gone up before the last song (but he was interrupted by his son!) to continue a response time, but we had launched into the final song. All of this focus on the song after the sermon is a lot of pressure! It's best I think to be aware again next time that the preacher has the call on what to do with that song (and they might also pull the plug on the final song altogether). But really I think it still went fine. Let me know your thoughts.

My Heart Will Trust

Beautiful One

Thanks for your thoughtfulness in the song choices. I am really liking this 3 x 2 sets of songs. What do you think? I think that new song is taking on. And your leading amongst you all is improving. I must remember to make sure that you fully know the entry into songs before we stop practice, as the second last song showed. But not a big hiccup. I thought the second song was an inspired choice. That really gets people going, I think, and particularly of note because of its position in the service. Do that again!

Sorry again about the guitar volumes. After I told you to turn down, I heard that you might have been too quiet. My bad. We'll have to look at having the drums over the baptistry because it is so echoey. It created problems with stage noise. I think people are looking into that. All in all ok. Please let me know what you think.

Thanks again and to those who filled in for others. You have gone above and beyond the call. All of you may you be blessed this week. That is my prayer.

Love you all!

Church services for April 5, 2009

PLEASE INDICATE YOUR AVAILABILITY FOR THE COC CONFERENCE ASAP
REMEMBER THE ROAD TRIP 17 MAY FOR BOTH TEAMS LEAVING AROUND 9am
Well, last Sunday was Palm Sunday and we are now into Easter/Passion Week. The theme was centered in Luke's version of the Triumphal Entry. The morning had the Chair of Elders impersonating the donkey and went down on all fours through the aisle during the Bible reading. Funny stuff. It was interesting for me in that I picked all the songs for both services. And without boring you about the journey, I found it a great experience. It was one that God revealed things to me during the services, after I had picked the songs (or I thought I picked them, of course I had supernatural help, I know that now!).
The following comments are just an encouragement from me. Please take them in the manner in which I mean it. We do take as a given, don't we, that we are in service to God and that the louder comments from me or anyone else you can take with your own discernment.
Before I comment further, I am keen to hear your experiences, so email me! I had comments from the peanut gallery that were positive, and I could have hugged them! So be encouraged.

You Are My King/Amazing Love
First of all, thanks to the worship leader, who stepped up from back up singing. You are unaware, I think that you are gifted in leading. And also trained for the job. So don't think that you just stepped in, you owned that role on Sunday, and did a brilliant job. And the singing from everyone, wow! One of my aims this year has been to improve the quality and quantity of our singing team. No need this week. It was full and lovely.
Thanks to the band who regularly retro themselves for the morning service, thanks for your attitudes and your willingness to serve. Again, ace music.
And techies, thanks for a great mix, and for dealing with the barrage of requests just before the service. I will try to rectify that this week, just to let everyone know what a busy time it is just before the service.

You Are My King/Amazing Love
This service I had the opportunity to come in when everyone else did at 6pm. This allowed me to see how the church presents itself to the congregation. It was great! The lighting made all the difference, and with the bar stools, and set up with the singers on one side. And again, beautiful music. Wow, after struggling to find a bassist, we had such a full sound with the three acoustic musos you had. And the singers. Mission accomplished with my plan for the singers this year!
The worship leader really took the appropriate authority last night. You were sensitive to Holy Spirit, and all of you were worshipping yourselves and leading others. My heart is leaping right now! What a demonstration of great ministry from all of you!

I'd like to say special thanks to those of you who worked on Saturday too to do the new set up. I loved being around you then you all in your element (although I was mindful of getting in the way!). I'd like to say that aside from the brilliant job you did (everything looks great!) that it cheers me to no end that you are great at what you do and that you willingly give up time and resources to ministry. I love yous all!
Thanks all, have a great week.
